Celebrating Fiesta Days with Kunes Sterling

At Kunes Ford of Sterling and Kunes CDJR of Sterling, we’re excited to once again be part of the rich tradition of Fiesta Days, an annual celebration that has been a cornerstone of Sterling and Rock Falls since the 1940s. This vibrant event, rooted in the commemoration of Mexico's Independence Day, honors the Latin American heritage that has been a vital part of the Midwest’s cultural fabric for generations.

Fiesta Days began as a way to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day, observed every September 16th. The holiday is marked by the famous "Grito de Dolores," a call for independence first proclaimed by Padre Miguel Hidalgo in 1810. Here in Sterling, the celebration has grown into a week-long festival filled with cultural events, fundraisers, and the highly anticipated Fiesta Parade. This year's parade, the 71st Annual Fiesta Parade, will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The Fiesta Parade is organized by the Hispanic Business Leaders Committee (HBLC) of the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. Since 2013, the HBLC has brought together local businesses, organizations, and community members to create an unforgettable experience for all. This year’s parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Rock Falls and make its way across the bridge into Sterling, symbolizing the unity of our "Twin Cities."

Kunes Ford of Sterling and Kunes CDJR of Sterling are proud to participate in this vibrant display of community spirit. We’ll be there with our finest vehicles, and we can’t wait to see the streets filled with smiling faces and festive energy. The parade is more than just a celebration; it’s a way for us to connect with the community and show our support for the local Hispanic businesses and families who make the Sauk Valley area so special.

After the parade, the festivities will continue at the Grandon Civic Center in Sterling from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The HBLC has planned a fantastic celebration with live music, activities for all ages, delicious food, and a variety of vendors. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon with family and friends, soaking in the rich cultural heritage that makes our community unique.

As we march through the streets of Sterling and Rock Falls, we invite everyone to come out and celebrate with us. Fiesta Days is a time to honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future.
